August 4, 2010: Recital 2010 “What’s New at the Zoo” T-shirts, DVDs and Pictures are ready for pick-up at the Gloucester studio. Please call for times.

The Gloucester Studio will be closed for Memorial Day Monday, May 31, 2010.

Classes held on Monday will make-up their class following the schedule below:
     Monday, 5:45p-7:00p Ballet III will make-up Tuesday 5:15p-6:30p
     The Monday 4:45p Jazz class will make up on Tuesday, 6:30p-7:30p

Dear Parents and Dancers:

The 2010 Spring Performance is scheduled for Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Gloucester High School Auditorium at 4:00pm. All dancers are to report to their chaperones at 3:00p.

The Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for Friday, June 4, 2010 at 5:00p at the auditorium for all dancers. The Finale will be run at the end of the First Act. Dancers may leave after they have rehearsed their dance on stage. Act I should be completed by 7:30p. The Performance order will be posted at both studios April 12.

Group and individual pictures will be taken at the Gloucester studio Saturday, June 4, 2010. There will be no make-up day for pictures. Schedules for group pictures and individuals will be posted at the studios April 12.

A list of accessories, such as tights and shoes will be posted at the studios April 12. Costumes are arriving and will be distributed to a parent the second week of May. Please ensure the safety of your child's costume by keeping it in a secure place. Names in all shoes and costume pieces will prevent confusion at the auditorium!

The $15.00 recital fee (to help defray production cost) was due with the March tuition. All accounts (tuition, costumes, late fees, etc.) must be paid in full by May 5th or costumes will not be distributed and students will not be allowed to participate in the recital. This policy will be strictly enforced. Please save us both the embarrassment by taking care of this responsibility. Please make checks for tuition, recital fees, and costumes to Diggs School of Dance. There is no tuition charge for June.

Attendance in class and rehearsals is very critical at this time of the year. When a dancer is absent and misses the choreography it is very frustrating for the teacher, and is especially hard on the dancer and their classmates. Please make sure your child is in class. The recital is a very important and special event for our dancers and the community. Our staff and faculty are working hard to ensure each dancer’s success, but we need your support and cooperation to achieve this result.

The Gloucester and Mathews studios will be closed for Spring Break Monday, April 5, through Friday, April 9. Classes will resume Monday, April 12. No make-up classes are scheduled.

We need volunteers to help with the children during the rehearsal and the performance. If you choose to sit with your child's class you will view their performance from the side of the stage. If you sit with another class we will try to arrange for you to be in the audience for their performance.  It is very important that the children be supervised during the rehearsal and the performance. Sign-up sheets will be posted April 12.

The following items/services will be offered by Bayside Youth Ballet as fundraisers. Support the company and enjoy remembrances of your dancer’s 2010 performance. All orders must be prepaid by May 15th. Make checks payable to Bayside Youth Ballet. Sign-up sheets and order forms will be available April 12, 2010.

• Group and individual pictures will be taken by a professional photographer prior to the performance and may be purchased at that time. More details to follow.

• Commemorative T-Shirts will be available for $15.00 for short sleeve and $20.00 for long sleeve. These colorful T-Shirts will have the names of all the dancers printed on the back and will be available in sizes Small Child to 2x Adult.

• BYB will also be taping the performance and copies of the DVD may be purchased for $25.

• Flowers will be available for sale the afternoon of the performance if you would like a gift for your dancer.

• Personal and business ads for the program are still available. If you would like to send a message to your dancer or advertise your business please call the studio.

The students of Kara’s Creative Movement class on Wednesday @ 4:15p in Mathews and Thursday @ 4:30p in Gloucester will present their Report of Progress the last day of classes, June 2 and June 3.Families and friends are encouraged to attend.
